Why This Workshop:
Thoughtful book units can greatly enhance students’ comprehension of complex narrative texts. This workshop provides a practical framework for planning engaging units and lessons that focus on big ideas and key concepts, themes, story elements, vocabulary, and background knowledge to support and enhance comprehension. Effective strategies for leveraging the reading-writing connection to deepen student understanding will also be explored.
